Would You Rather Be Liked or Respected

Jim and Roger discuss leadership traits that make for liked and respected leaders. Here’s a breakdown of the list. (Thanks to Robert Sereci of Medinah Country Club for the inspiration for this episode.)

Respected leaders have (most of) these qualities

  1. They set a high standard for themselves and others
  2. The believe in themselves
  3. They are active listeners
  4. They are authentic
  5. They are great problem solvers
  6. They never meet there needs at someone else’s expense
  7. They admit when they are wrong (They do a daily debrief)
  8. They are mentors, not a preachers
  9. They smile and laugh
  10. They don’t take themselves too seriously
  11. They give lots of “real” praise
  12. They learn the personal stuff about their team

Liked leaders have these qualities
